5 lessons worth knowing...

I know I haven't been writing much lately, but I've been reading quite a bit, and this is one of em =)

Five Lessons About How To Treat People
-- Author Unknown

1. First Important Lesson - "Know The Cleaning Lady"

During my second month of college, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions, until I read the last one: "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"

Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade.

"Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant. They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say "hello."

I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.

2. Second Important Lesson - "Pickup In The Rain"

One night, at 11:30 p.m., an older African American woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing rainstorm. Her car had broken down and she desperately needed a ride. Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car.

A young white man stopped to help her, generally unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960s. The man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxicab.

She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a giant console color TV was delivered to his home.

A special note was attached. It read: "Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along. Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband's bedside just before he passed away. God bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving others."

Sincerely, Mrs. Nat King Cole.

3. Third Important Lesson - "Remember Those Who Serve"

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10 year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him. "How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked. "50¢," replied the waitress.

The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it.

"Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired. By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient. "35¢!" she brusquely replied.

The little boy again counted his coins. "I'll have the plain ice cream," he said. The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left.

When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies. You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip.

4. Fourth Important Lesson - "The Obstacles In Our Path"

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way.

Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many of us never understand - "Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition."

5. Fifth Important Lesson - "Giving When It Counts"

Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who was suffering from a rare and serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year-old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness. The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister. I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, "Yes, I'll do it if it will save her."

As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheeks. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded. He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away?".

Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her.

silly me

Humans have such complex brain.

Over analyze things at times, when all you need is just do it.

I got myself a new Acoustic guitar, prolly one of the best decisions i've ever made.

As i retrospect, it's ironic how i have spent hours comparing guitar models and specs

in the end, i played this guitar at the shop for a couple of minutes and fell in love with it instantly.

Sometimes u just gotta do it to know it, simple as that

looking back

today's prolly one of the most non-productive Fridays ever

I told myself that i would finish at least half of the report today and look where i'm standing right now

u know what, i started thinkin that im actually intoxicated

u know when you started feeling lazy and tired all the time.

i literally slept 3 hours after dinner (well technically coz it was 5 at that time)

and now my stomach is hatin on me

see that picture up there?

thats me. when i was 15 or something. ignorant, funny, stupid as usual

I think i got this from Taiwan if i remembered correctly

An old chap cut my face off from a piece of paper,

he was so quick, he had it done before i could say " U think im gonna believe u doing that? "

of course i ate my words for that.

now as i retrospect, its weird that i hardly remember most of my childhood memories.

maybe, just maybe i should make videos of myself

just so i remember what i did before ;)

The secret to fundamentals in communication

Found a story which enlightened me ;)

Thought it might be good sharing materials~

In ancient Greece, Socrates was reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem.

One day an acquaintance met the great philosopher and said,

"Do you know what I just heard about your friend?"

"Hold on a minute," Socrates replied. "Before telling me anything I'd like you to pass a little test.

It"s called the Three Filters Test."

"Three Filters?"

"That's right," Socrates continued. "Before you talk to me about my friend, it might be a good idea to take a moment and filter what you're going to say.

That's why I call it the Three Filters Test.

The first filter is Truth.

Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?"

"No," the man said, "actually I just heard about it and..."

"All right," said Socrates. "So you don't really know if it"s true or not.

Now let"s try the second filter, the filter of goodness.

Is what you are about to tell me about my friend something good?"

"No, on the contrary..."

"So," Socrates continued, "you want to tell me something bad about him, but you're not certain it"s true.

You may still pass the test though, because there's one filter left: the filter of usefulness.

Is what you want to tell me about my friend going to be useful to me?"

"No, not really."

"Well," concluded Socrates, "if what you want to tell me is neither true nor good nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?"

Thursday, April 22, 2010

Uh... huh... Uh Huh?

What is he thinking?

Monday, April 19, 2010

tell me about it

to be honest with you,

sometimes i don't see the relevance in memorizing mathematical formula.

I'll tell you why,

coz prolly 20 years from now

every single one of us would have a personal robot that tells you EVERYTHING

YOU wanna Know ;)

My internet service provider did a pretty lousy job

(should i blame it on them entirely? definitely...)

worse still, im suppose to do a research and hand the materials to my groupmates

ON MONDAY

oh FYI, I'm currently in Monash Library which is about to close in 15 minutes time...

fantastic i would say.

How am i suppose to get my research done without the all mighty INTERNET!!?? ( no im not being exaggerating)

life on Campus

You have absolutely no idea where I'm writing this blog post from

sure you don't, how could you? =P

well here's a hint of where am i :skating rink.

Then again, the reason I'm stuck here at the moment is because Monash's Library closes at 9 ( holy *** who would stay in campus at a time like this? =.= well me.)

obviously I was studying (Damn right I am ;D)

and the fact that assignments are piling up (as usual),

means stay back at campus + a lot of whining and cursing, well nothing personal.

It's surprising how time could pass us by that quickly

imagine half a year from now, i'd prolly say the same thing to myself again~ (like deja vu,or not)

anyways, I just wanna drop a pass by "hi" since u know, i've been away for awhile ( omg I just had deja vu, as if i have said this before , in fact I did Lol)

oh gotta run peeps

back to assignment =P

i hate you i hate you i hate you!

ok the title says i hateyou
it's actually i hate IT~~

i have never EVER HATED snow UNTIL today!
It's just toooooooooooooooooooooooooo much~
I'll tell you y is that so...

there's a small hill at the back of this house
and if u'd reach the hill top
You'll see something like this
Photobucket

yeah so i was heading this place
It doesn't look that awesome in the picture
but u should really see it with your naked eye
well i did and it was awesome!
It's very very very tranquil =)
i could sit there all day, except that it's just too damn COLD!

And that was just one thing
it took me quite an effort to reach that small hill top

First of all,
the wind was blowing hard and it was snowing so Obviously it WAS cold
i was happy THEN =)
and when i moved on
there were much more snow ahead
Photobucket

so it was kinda hard for me to maneuver
and i keep getting snow into my shoes
my legs were paining, literally

It wasn't long enough until i got more snow into my shoes
Photobucket

Photobucket

And my pants were starting to get wet =)

Photobucket

That's where i was heading (this pic is taken when i was heading back)

So i was heading towards that small hill top u've seen earlier and
got even more snow along the away~~~
Finally i reached the hill top! bangganya =)

Photobucket

Photobucket

U know it's hard to take all these pics under that weather
my hands, they actually hurt when i took my gloves off
seriously it's not something u like to do everyday

Decided to head back after 30 mins standing there, it's just too cold~

but um along the way =)

Photobucket

Photobucket

lol i just couldn't resist making a snow angel
when there's so much snow XD

Photobucket

U know when i said i hated snow, i didn't actually mean it

I really really really really love the snow

and i'm so gonna miss all of em when i'm back to Msia =(

Monday, January 4, 2010

Oh babe shalalalala

If there's one thing i would love to see in Denmark,
besides the snow and all,
it will be the ocean view :D

Here is where i went ytd~

Photobucket
Okay, not exactly where i was then
Let's have a closer look

Photobucket
(Lol, you must be kidding me)
No i'm not, I'm up there~~~~~

Photobucket
It's Skagen!!! It's Skagen!!!
The northernmost point of Europe~~~~

Photobucket
Literally, northernmost point of Europe

Photobucket
Aku berada kat sini!
ok obviously i failed bm ~.~
anywayz, yeah I'm there, right at the tip weee~~~

Funny there were less snow there as compared to where I'm staying right now.
It's because of how the wind from north east affect the snow falling and the temperature
and all the sciences behind
which is out of my comprehension at the moment
but um, the wind was blowing real hard
REAL HARD~
AND IT WAS REALly COLD....

the water just froze ( no, not the ocean)
I'll show you later....

and the sunset was just splendid
Photobucket

Photobucket
The frozen water

Photobucket

Photobucket
We were right there waiting

Photobucket
Smiling

Photobucket
and just feel what's being blown right at us.

I like all these new experiences :)
and it was freakin cold :O

Photobucket
One last photo before we headed back home haha
